East End Kids is a non-profit group founded in 1990 by Larry Cervi. Mr. Cervi, the East End Kids Artistic Director, created the group to provide kids between the ages of 12 and 18 the ability to pursue their interest in singing, dancing, and acting. Professional vocal and dance instruction is complemented with confidence building, teamwork, poise and performance skill.
Auditions are held twice a year (in January and September) at the Destella Dance Centre located in Export, Pennsylvania. Rehearsals for the ensemble are held on Sundays from 1:30pm – 5:00pm at DeStella and are split between choreography and vocal instruction. Rehearsals for the summer season are held from February through May, while rehearsals for the winter season are held from September through November. The summer show season usually runs from late May through late August/early September and the winter season usually runs from late November through December. There are approximately 20-25 shows per season.
Earning a reputation as Pittsburgh’s premier teen song and dance ensemble, the East End Kids provide professional entertainment for corporate, community, and private events. Shows are fully staged and choreographed and sung in three-part harmony with featured vocal soloists. Professional sets, props, and musical accompaniments enable the East End Kids to bring a little bit of Broadway to local stages.
